Copyright policy

Like the Centre for Case Studies, the International Journal of Case Studies in Management (Journal) is wholly owned by HEC Montréal. In principle, the School retains ownership of copyright for cases published in the Centre’s E-Catalogue or in the Journal. Accordingly, professors who decide to publish their cases in either of these media thereby agree to transfer ownership of their publication and reproduction rights.

At the request of a professor, the Journal (HEC Montréal) may, however, grant the editor of a journal or book permission to publish a case written by that professor and published in the Journal. In the case of a book, HEC Montréal may grant permission to the publisher – for a fixed period of two to five years, renewable at the author’s request – to reprint a case in a work that is being written or edited by the author. Subject to the author’s consent, the Journal may grant exclusive publishing rights to the case for the duration of this fixed period.

Mandatory statement: In all cases, publishers are required to refer to the original publication, where applicable, and to the authorizations obtained using the following statement: “Reproduced with the permission of HEC Montréal.”
